Ffos Las racecourse, Trimsaran

Ffos Las racecourse is one of only three racecourses in Wales, and is indeed the first National Hunt course to be completed in Britain for over 80 years. The 600 acre complex is situated near Trimsaran, in West Wales, on what used to be the largest open cast mining site in Europe. An area which now has been completely transformed. Surrounding the complex is the beautiful Welsh countryside with excellent beaches and leisure facilities within easy reach.

The all-weather, oval track is one mile and four furlongs in length, in line with Jockey Club specifications, and will host both National Hunt and Flat racing meetings. The track is overlooked by a single enclosure which can hold up to 15,000 people, and there is also a 1,000-seater covered grandstand.  In addition to this the complex will offer ample stabling along with administrative buildings, technical buildings, accomodation, bar and excellent catering facilities.

Ffos Las is ideally situated to become an important part of the British Horse Racing calendar as it is only an hour-and-a quarter from the Severn bridge and an hour from the Rosslare to Pembroke ferry terminals. It' s close proximity to Ireland will hopefully attract some of the huge support that exists for horse racing across the Irish Sea.   

The racecourse is expected to create over 100 jobs and bring up to £600 million pounds into the local economy and become an important part of the social and sporting life of west Wales.
